Planned Outages

Important Information

Electric service has to be interrupted during system upgrades or when maintenance is performed on electrical equipment. This includes equipment that delivers electricity to the homes and businesses in our service area.

We understand planned outages are inconvenient, but these are necessary for crews to work as quickly and safely as possible. We work hard to inform members who will be impacted by a planned outage. When a planned outage is scheduled, members will be notified via phone call and/or MyOutage text.

Phone call notification of each planned outage includes:

  • Date, time and location
  • Description of the project
  • Expected duration of the outage

SMS text notification of each planned outage includes:

  • Date, time and location
  • Expected duration of the outage
What does the planned outage text from MyOutage mean?

Planned Outage – Single Day:
  • Date: Planned date for outage
  • Time: Planned time window outage is expected to occur
  • Duration: Amount of time members can expect to be without power
  • Link: Directs members to this planned outage information page

Planned Outage – Multiple Date Range*:

  • Date: Planned date range for outage
  • Time: Planned time window outage is expected to occur
  • Duration: Amount of time members can expect to be without power on any single day within the date range
  • Link: Directs members to this planned outage information page
* Members who receive a MyOutage text about a planned outage scheduled for multiple days will not be without power every day listed in the message. This means crews will be in your area for a number of days working, and members could expect to be without power on any single day within the date range. Crews will always knock on doors to notify members before electric service is disrupted.

MyOutage Info

Horry Electric Cooperative’s outage text alert program – MyOutage – provides a convenient way to stay connected during a power outage. Using the everyday accessibility of text messaging, we can quickly and easily communicate about power outages.

How to Participate

Participating is easy! All you have to do is simply have your mobile number(s) listed on your Horry Electric accounts, then text MYOUTAGE to 1-844-369-2767. You can log into your MyEnergy Online account or call us at 843-369-2211 to add your mobile number.
