School Involvement

Horry Electric is committed to the communities it serves. We are especially committed to the students across Horry County, as they are the leaders of tomorrow.

Horry Electric is happy to participate in Career Days, Touch-A-Truck Demonstrations, and more.

Interested in Horry Electric attending your next event? We offer two types of live demonstrations:

  1. Trouble in Tiny Town
    • Demonstrates the dangers of electricity and power lines.
    • Students will see up close what happens when tree limbs fall onto power lines or what can happen if you touch an energized line.
    • Great for students ages 5-12 (recommended maximum group size is 20-30 students).
  2. Lineman Demonstrations
    • 1-2 Horry Electric linemen will explain the responsibilities of their daily job, what a typical day looks like and showcase the different types of gear and equipment they use on a daily basis.
    • If there is space outside, HEC linemen will bring a bucket truck for bucket demonstrations (due to liability, only HEC employees are permitted to ride in the bucket).

IMPORTANT REMINDER
Winter peak hours begin November 1. Peak hours will be from 6 - 9 a.m. (November 1 - March 31). Click below to learn more about rates and peak hours.
