Reed Cooper was named Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Horry Electric Cooperative on January 3, 2025. Reed graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and a graduate of the Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program (MIP).

Reed began his career at Horry Electric Cooperative in January 1998 working as a system engineer. He was promoted to Manager of Engineering in 2002.

From an early age, Reed knew he wanted to work in the electric utility industry. After college, Reed started working at Palmetto Electric Cooperative before moving back home to join his local co-op. He has a passion for electric cooperatives, especially Horry Electric, because of the unique business model and the role the co-op has in the community.

Reed was born and raised in Conway, S.C. He is married and has two children. In his spare time, he loves serving his church, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family.
